Why should you and your church participate in planting and multiplying churches? Here are ten good reasons.

In the words of C. Peter Wagner, “The single most effective evangelistic methodology under heaven is planting new churches.”

More people in your church can use their spiritual gifts instead of sitting in rows waiting for opportunities to be used in ministry.

Becoming involved in church planting can accelerate leadership development in both church planting and in an existing church that plants.

Planting a church can encourage an existing parent church and exponentially expand its vision.

By participating in church planting, a church can exercise and expand its vision for Kingdom ministry.

Church planting can grow the faith of both the parent church and the new church.

Planting new churches contributes to existing church health.

Planting churches is a healthy and productive means of seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, a biblical command (Matt. 6:33).

Starting a new church is one of the best ways to reach new people and younger people (think Millennials, Gen Zs, and Gen Alphas) with the gospel of Christ, and help them to become an active part of a church community.

To complete this list of ten non-exhaustive reasons why you and your church should participate in planting new church(es), I close with another quote from C. Peter Wagner.

“Remember this simple fact: it’s easier to have babies than to raise the dead! Not all existing churches are dead, or even that most of them are. Most can and should be brought to life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Still the most exciting part of the hospital is the maternity ward.” - C. Peter Wagner, Church Planting for a Greater Harvest, p. 25
